About

Oriana Catton Jewellery creates timeless, beautifully and consciously crafted, wearable statement pieces. Everything is handcrafted by me in London, using traditional silversmithing and wax carving techniques. Characterised by clean lines, detailed mark-making, and a careful balance between geometric and organic form, our minimalist statements turn quirky, personal inspirations into edgy and elegant design. All of our jewellery is sustainably made with recycled and locally sourced materials.

The Artist

Oriana Catton is a London-based, multidisciplinary jewellery artist, born and raised in Hong Kong. With a background in sculpture, installation and performance, Catton was first introduced to the world of contemporary jewellery and metal in 2017 at Rhode Island School of Design’s CE Program. In 2021, Catton returned to jewellery making by completing the Intensive Program at the Hatton Jewellery Institute of Hong Kong. After moving to London later that year they began working on their own line, developing their first collection: Little Eats // 小食 (síu sik).

Artist Statement

Drawing from their fine art practice, Catton applies a method of “Observational Making” to jewellery work, bringing a level of perceptive energy, specificity and intentionality to the pieces. Through an observant, mimetic process of capturing both the essence and visual form of personal and cultural mementos, Catton uses jewellery objects to create contemporary expressions of identity. With metal as their primary medium, they weave a poetic narrative of work that is imbued with personal, nostalgic, and resonant material. This process-driven approach finds beauty in the subtle idiosyncrasies present in handmade geometric work, merging clean lines and methodical mark-making with the intimate and necessarily human, “mark of the artist."
